MAHONING COUNTY DEMOCRATIC PARTY STATEMENT ON AUGUST 2ND, 2022 PRIMARY RESULTS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - 8/3/2022

YOUNGSTOWN, OH

The entirety of the Mahoning County Democratic Party is grateful to the candidates who put their names on the ballot in yesterday’s primary. It takes a degree of courage to do so, especially in the cases where many did not know what the final district would look like, that few will ever know. Regardless of whether on the winning, or losing side, thank you for answering the call to serve.

We’re incredibly excited about the ticket that the Democratic Voters of Mahoning County have chosen in this primary, and the May primary:

For Election to Congress  - Lou Lyras
For Election as State Representative in the 59th District - Lauren McNally
For Election as State Representative in the 58th District - Bruce Neff
For Election as State Senator in the 33rd District - Bob Hagan
For Re-Election as County Commissioner - Commissioner Carol Rimedio Righetti
For Re-Election to the Court of Appeals - Judge Gene Donofrio

This ticket represents experience, resolute vision, and principled leadership. From decades in the private sector creating jobs, to experience as in the legislative, executive, and judicial branches these candidates reflect some of the best of what Mahoning County has to offer.

“I look forward to working tirelessly alongside these campaigns to stem the tide of extremism in Mahoning County. I’m also incredibly thankful to all of the employees of the Board of Elections, as well as the Deputy Sheriffs who made an additional, unnecessary primary, flow so smoothly. To do this so well with all of the uncertainty created by the Ohio Republican Party is a true testament to their professionalism” said Mahoning County Democratic Party Chairman Chris Anderson.
